| Description: |
Position Summary: The Steam Fitter’s Helper works within the Division of School Facilities (DSF) of the New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) to ensure a safe and clean environment for all students of NYCPS system.
This position performs work relating to installing, maintaining, and repairing piping, controls, and equipment for heating systems, compressed air systems, refrigerating systems, air conditioning systems, steam and hot water systems, fire suppression systems, cooling systems, and sprinkler systems. Performs related work.
Reports to: Steamfitter
Direct Reports: N/A
Key Relationships: Relationships will be fostered with other DSF management and skilled trade staff.
Responsibilities
Qualification Requirements:
Minimum
1. Three years of full-time satisfactory mechanical experience as a Steam Fitter's Helper acquired within the last ten years; or 2. At least one and one-half years of experience as described in "1" above plus sufficient training of a relevant nature acquired in an approved trade, vocational or technical high school to make up the equivalent of three years of acceptable experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of approved trade, vocational or technical high school.
License Requirement
A Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York may be required for appointment to positions in certain agencies. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
Salary: $373.17 per day
(Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not earn less than their current salary.)
