This position is in a civil service competitive class that is subject to examination. If you do not already have permanent NYC civil service status as Stock Worker, you will have to file to take the civil service exam for this title when offered by Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS). Description:

Position Summary: The school Stock Worker, under the day-to-day supervision of the school principal and the overall direction of the school’s Assistant Principal of Organization will be responsible for handling the receipt, storage, care and distribution of materials, supplies, equipment, and tools at Franklin D. Roosevelt High School. Performs related work.

 

Report to: Assistant Principal of Organization

 

Key Relationships: Works closely with school administrators and staff to ensure that storage facilities and materials align with school needs. Maintains a working relationship with Assistant Principals in the building to fill their requests for supplies. Interfaces with support staff as needed.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Receive all incoming deliveries for the school.
  • Receive, store, distribute and care for materials, supplies and equipment; secure all materials.
  • Receive various testing exams and notify the appropriate Assistant Principal immediately; assist in securing all testing materials in the vault.
  • Deliver, pick up and transport materials and supplies to departments and offices throughout the school building.
  • Deliver, pick up and transport materials and supplies to various departments and offices throughout the city, as needed.
  • Load and unload material at the point of pick-up, delivery or distribution from lift trucks.
  • Check materials received against invoices and note damages and discrepancies in quantity, if applicable.
  • Work with the supply secretaries to prepare quarterly inventory reports of all supplies
  • Keep facilities and materials clean and maintain inventory records.
  • Ensure that all supply areas are clean and clutter free.
  • Check the web-based ticketing system to reply to staff supply requests.
  • Maintain accountability of supplies and document their distribution.
  • Notify supply secretaries in a timely manner when supplies are running low and need to be replenished.
  • Assemble items ordered which need to be put together, including furniture and equipment.
  • Pick supplies from shelves to fill requisitions from the Supply Office, lifting and carrying supplies when necessary.

 

Qualification Requirements:

 

Minimum

 

There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position. Must be able to perform the physical tasks of the job.

 

Preferred

 

  • High school graduation or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be able to perform the physical tasks of the job.
  • Excellent record of time and attendance as referenced by previous employers.
  • Experience in maintaining stock and inventory.
  • Experience in operating freight elevators, electric and manual transports, and other related equipment.
  • Individuals must be physically able to lift materials and deliveries
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be organized
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License preferred.

Salary: $37,653 - $56,755

 

(Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not earn less than their current salary.)
